JakeCam!

7thsign.com

There's this Cat who seems to be walking around in our house a lot. We're not too sure what his purpose is, so we decided to strap a QuickCam ball to his head - here are some of the better-quality images we captured. He seemed to get used to the ball relatively quickly, so these are somewhat candid shots - some odder than others ...

We will be bringing you the complete diagrams and technical specifications so that you, too, can have what we affectionately call a JakeCam!

First, of course, we had to find him, as he is a pretty sneaky cat. So, upstairs we went to look for him.

These first two shots were actually taken to test out the camera and the scripts involved. And of course to begin our story ...

Up the stairs

Jake Captured! We caught him after throwing a blanket over him and tying him up.

Once we had tested the camera and connections, the intrigue began ...

The toilet shot was pretty much expected, since he seems to like the cool water therein. Jake at the Toilet

speed stairs His agility wasn't hampered for long.

He became accustomed to the camera attached to his head in a matter of days.

We don't know how he got up into the chandelier, especially since it's about 6 feet in the air ... what about that chandelier!

playin' the piano Lover of the Arts, he.

Here is a shot of the cable coming from down the stairs - since he was running around so much, this new, smaller cable ended up being about 30% longer than the previous one, letting him move about more before we had to come and unravel him. Jake on the stairs

Jake *in* the stairs Case in point.

Luckily, soon after this image was captured, D came home to unravel Jake to let him roam around some more.

Ah, not so fast there, buddy! Freedom isn't so easily won, and besides, he certainly wouldn't get very far with that camera attachment. Freedom - not

bathroom, again Back in the bathroom.

Lookin' for a little more fresh water than he can handle, I bet. head of the shower

Jake goin' to the crapper That old safety room, the toilet.

As technology has advanced, so has our ability to bring you a higher quality of JakeCam. We finally scrounged enough money to purchase a Color digital camera for Jake. This was a bit tricky, as there is that power cable as well as the normal serial cable.

We would also like you to know that unfortunately we have decided not to present the full schematics for the JakeCam. We are in the process of patenting it and our lawyers have recommended not publishing it to the web until we can easily punish anyone attempting to copy our concepts.

Thank you for your patience.
