Hi Kim,

I'm glad you like the scooter posts, I have another post coming soon about more repair work. Also I think I've decided to do a repair guide for the eco cruz on here, complete with pictures.

Mine is an eco cruz and it was probably bought at the scooter/volks cafe (now Folks Cafe). They got out of the electric scooter market because of the hassles of dealing with importing. They do have some spare parts there but not too many. For some things like chargers they will direct you to electricscooterparts.com, but that won't help you with the bucket.

I do have a spare bucket from my scooter that got doored and I don't anticipate needing a spare bucket myself any time so if you want it you are welcome to it. I don't have the metal clips or screws that go with it I don't think but those are probably easier to come by in a standard hardware store. If you're interested you can e-mail me at salguod here at 7thsign.

Hi Doug,

I've enjoyed reading your posts about your electric scooter. After reading your posts and doing other research, I bought a used one. I love it, and ride it to work and back (rt about 10 mi).

Is yours called an "EcoCruz"? I think mine was bought at the scooter cafe, but they no longer have e-scooters on their website. Folks Cafe is also silent on the whole e-scooter topic.

But I need a new storage bucket thing under the seat that holds it on. Similar to the above post, I am looking for parts. Any advice you can give would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Kim (in Mountain View)

Hi Mike,

They were sold through Folks Cafe on Soquel in Santa Cruz. Their importer was in Oakland I think but I knwo they don't sell them anymore. They do have parts until they wear out. You can get spare chargers through electricscooterparts.com and probably some others. I recently bought batteries from Batteries Plus, but any place where you can get 12V motorcycle batteries will be fine. It takes four of them. Taking it apart and reassembling it is a fun exercise for an afternoon. Some screws don't really hold anything and mostly the plastic just snaps together.

As for the intermittent throttle, check the wires going into the circuit breaker under the seat. Things put in that storage space carelessly can put tension on the wires which will make them break or have intermittent contact. That't the most common cause anyway. That and making sure everything is plugged in snugly behind the panel under the seat.

Hope it all goes well.

Hi, I became interested in buying an ecocruz scooter. http://sfbay.craigslist.org/scz/mcy/870799282.html
I could not find any specific information on the web, but came across your postings which sounds remarkably similar to the one being advertised. I also came across info that this may be a chung king scooter made in china, but has been discontinued. Could you let know me where to get spare parts (such as the battery) for this scooter? Thanks. mmc

You might want to check the wires leading into the breaker to make sure they aren't coming out or starting to break off. Sometimes putting things in the bucket under the seat can put pressure on the wires and start to break them. Aside from that you might have some wires that aren't tightened enough, like on the batteries themselves.

A few screw drivers and a few wrench sizes are all you need to dismantle the scooter (make careful notes to put it back together again int he same order. Most of the body pieces snap together and use screws so it's both easy and challenging at the same time. Overall it's great for a cheaply made scooter!

Really found your blog interesting, especially about the econocruz scooter as we have one here. We are experiencing the same problem you had with the intermittent electric problem. Desperate to find someone that can fix this for us as we are definitely not the mechanical whiz that you are. Any suggestions??? Scotter was a year old in May and otherwise in great condition. It just stops all the time. Flipping the breaker gets it going again, but we would be up a creek if we couldn't get it home.

After reading your likes and dislikes, we feel, as your parents, that we have some understanding of you for the first time. Maybe giving birth to you was only in my imagination and we adopted you. Especially regarding your food preferences. I love everything pickled and your dad loves his mayonnaise and popcorn. Guess you truly are your own man. Visiting your web site was extremely interesting and entertaining. Love, Mom and Dad
