The RV’s gray water tank is full. This is the tank that showers and sinks go to, nothing to icky. I think it filled up quickly from the shower problem and then a lot of testing of the shower. And some washing of dishes too. I’m going to drain it into the front tree area this morning.
This morning I finished “Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy.” I enjoyed it all the way to the end and I with they would make a sequel. I doubt a sequel will ever be made because I think they released it during the holiday rush and it got buried under all the big name games and hence didn’t sell well.
If you haven’t played this game, you should!
Last save point time: 18 hours 15 minutes. Add something like 15 minutes for the final bit for about 18.5 hours of game time. It probably would be 20 on the original save since I didn’t know what I was doing int he beginning on the first save.
Drove it over the hill, got there and they said: “We didn’t expect you until 4PM.”
“Huh,” I say? “The guy said come over any time.”
“He told us 4PM.”
“Well he didn’t tell that to me.”
They said we migh thave to wait an hour before they looked at it since they weren’t scheduled for that right now but I think a look of shock on our faces at maybe being stuck there for awhile bumped us up to a 5-minute wait. Then it was about 30 minutes of actual fix time and we were back on the road.
At least they were friendly and good and it worked out ok.
Yesterday in trying to get ready for Julie’s graduation Nicole was goign to use the RV shower. This is the first time using the shower in the RV so we didn’t really know what to expect. The hot water heater was on for the 30 minutes it needed to warm up. Nicole got in, turned it on and just a dribble came out. Thinking something was wrong she went to turn off the hot water and the knob came off in her hand and started spraying her with hot water. Then water started spraying from a crack in the hose of the showerhead.
She managed to get out and dried off and shut off the water, but now we have no water since if water is on it will spray in the shower. I called the rv people and they said to bring it in and they would replace the shower. So now I lose part of my work day during a critical 2 weeks for the project. I guess I’m going to be working late.
Just now I was goign to get a Coke from the vending machine and it didn’t take my dollar. I automatically went about smoothing it out with techniques developed and perfected in my wee-person years in the arcades and got it to accept my bill. Then I started thinking that this is the first time in years that I haven’t had a bill accepted despite using them more often and I realized how much better those things have become. Yay!
And while I’m writing about better I’ll also mention how when I was a kid there was always glass broken all around. All the beverages came in glass bottles and even if you weren’t the bottle smashing type enough still fell to make gladd on the sidewalk or road a comming and annoying thing. Now that plastic bottles are the norm I rarely see the glass. Yay!
So after defeating the Geb Queen I was given more curse stones and went back to playing the Mummy. After I came back to controlling Sphinx I didn’t bother to save right then because I didn’t expect another boss fight within 30 minutes of the last one. So I had to do the mummy part and the boss fight again.
The first boss fight was probably about 12 hours in, the second was probably 3 after that. I’ve now completed a really complicated mummy section (enough that they gave you a save in the middle while still being the mummy) and it looks like I’m about to do something big but I resisted temptation and decided it was time to go to sleep.
The scooter ran great this morning excet for two moments of what felt like the motor cutting out. I’m thinking there is still another loose wire in there that I need to track down. They were too fast to tell if it was the entire bike losing power or not. I’m thinking just the motor which means it’s one of the like 5 connections under and in front of the seat. I think I’m going top open it up this weekend, force the motor on, and observe while I wiggle those connections.
I went to OSH and got the longest philips-head screwdriver I could find that still had a small enough tip to work the average screw. I got home and unscrewed the screw that is supposed to hold the wire in with no problem. Then we ate dinner.
After dinner I determined that after I strip and cut the frayed end it would still reach the opening. I stripped the wire with the swiss army knife scissors and then trimmed the frayed ends with the nail clippers. I managed to find the small hole in the larger hole it goes in to and hold it there while I screwed the restraining bolt in place.
Then I turned it on and reset the circuit breaker and it all worked! A tug on the wire showed it in there securely. YAY!
For quite some time there has been a problem where over a bump the scooter will momentarily lose power. At first I thought I was imagining things but then I found it was real. Last week it cut out for a good 30 seconds on my way home and because it was a long time I was able to see that it wasn’t just the motor since the battery meter went all the way down. Total scooter death. That with it not being consistent over bumps meant to me that it was battery leads or the circuit breaker under the seat (those wires run in the open always looked suspicious). I resolved to fix it this weekend.
Last night on the way home from Jeanne and Terry’s it went out at the Sears entrance to the Capitola Mall. I walked/ran it for a bit hoping it would come back to life but no luck. Then I walked it to a street light and opened the seat. Turned off the circuit breaker and turned it back on, nothing. Felt for the wires, tugged on the red one, it was good. Bumped the black one and saw an arc. The black wire was loose and coming out. I touched it again and another arc. I turned off the power and tugged slightly and it came right out.
I ran/walked it the rest of the way home, got some asthma but nothing too bad, and started looking for tools. It turns out I don’t have a long philips-head screwdriver or a long narrow flat-head screwdriver. It’s a screw slotted for either of those and it’s right alongside the bucket wall under the seat so I need it long to work the driver. No luck last night.
On the way home tonight I will get an appropriate screwdriver and we’ll try round two. I’ll also see about getting some protective covering for the wires (maybe even some rubbery globs of glue) to secure everything.
The cat was all “meow meow meow meow meow meow meow…” until I turned all the light out. He was also tryign to rub against me and purr. I know he’s freaked out if he’s coming to me for love.
Dogs had to go out at 4AM and we all got back to sleep easily again. Pretty much uneventful.
