Put up the towel rack yesterday. Still need to get a medicine cabinet. Put up the doors yesterday. Need to cut some off the bottom of the bedroom door so it can be moved… It’s not just hard to move, it’s stuck.

In Santa Cruz you can build a large opaque wall if it is set back 6 feet from the front property line (not counting easements to the city, etc.). You can have a fence on the line as long as it is no more than 3.5 feet high and you can see through it (picket or wrought iron). If you have the wall set back then you need to have the space between the wall and the front line fully landscaped.

I think we’re heading towards a sound blocking wall.

  • Cut up a few more branches to fit in to the green bin (just a few more to go).
  • Moved all the bricks to the front and put “free” signs on it, some curtain things, and some blinds. (The bricks were taken)
  • Picked out some new outdoor front lights at Riverside Lighting. The only had 3 of the 4 we wanted so we took the 3 and installed them.
  • Poured some weed killer on the weeds in the concrete cracks that supposedly works for up to a year and they warn to not get on anything you like.
  • Got things like switch-plates, lights, vents, and smoke detectors back where they belonged in Dar’s room and bathroom. (Been lagging a lot on that and still have to put the doors back on and the closet shelf and the new fan)
  • Assembled the towel rack for Dar’s bathroom (still haev to install it)
  • Had yummy steak n tater tot n mac n cheese dinner.
  •

There was bubbling in the paint. Looking on exterminator sites, this is one of the indications of termites. The painter sees no evidence and thinks that it’s from oiled wood (only want to get rid of the oil is to replace the wood). I’ll call for an inspection to see what’s up.

Not in using it, but in the stuff we got to put in to Darlene’s bathroom. Since the new light is a bit taller (it extends above and below the base), the medicine cabinet (which is the same size as the old one) won’t fir in the space the old one used to. The top outlet will be covered.

Either we need a smaller cabinet or we need to move the outlet. We haven’t decided on the better choice yet. Nicole is leaning towards the smaller cabinet idea. Sorry, Dar!

And it wouldn’t be so bad if I weren’t seeing Star Wars all day Thursday, but I am.

Make food, get car, get haircut, put up the light and cabinet and towel rack in Dar’s bathroom, get my sister, get more stuff, move stuff around, set up stuff, stuff stuff, install light stuff, drill stuff, pick up stuff, wack stuff, make free stuff, cook stuff, eat stuff, clean up stuff, explode.

So I put on the new bigger tire (3.5×10) with the extra carrying capacity and it was big enough that if I was sitting on the scooter while moving the battery case would hit the tire. That obviously wouldn’t last long so I loosened the back tire and pulled the wheel back about 1/2″ before re-tightening. Now it has clearance and I have the better tire.

I still need to drill a new hole on either side so I can bolt down the guides for a little extra security. Right now the back wheel could potentially fall off the back, but I’ll have plenty of notice if that’s going to happen in the form of a wobbly tire. Mostly it’ll make it easy to line up the wheel faster.

Yesterday we ripped ou tthe medicine cabinet in Dar’s bathroom. Today we’ll go to Home Depot to look for a decent replacement. We put the old one in the free pile and someone took the doors. I guess they just wanted the mirrors to hang in their house.

Today I have to pull out the floor heater so the floor guy can see what is needed for repairs.

Painting will start today on Dar’s bathroom. Yay! Tomorrow morning I’ll put on my new scooter tire and that will be yay too!

Then I’ll remove the floor heater to prepare for floor repairs and I’ll start work on the washing machine drain.

Wash Darlene’s bathroom walls and ceiling.
Get the light working in the computer room.
Get all this code to compile and working.
Put more stuff in the free pile.
