I really wasn’t feeling it

Today’s workout I just wasn’t in the mood for it. I went through the motions and did most of the exercises but I didn’t push myself. I know some exercise is better than no exercise so I did what I could.

Level 6 is done

I was thinking about using the hand bike this morning but then I decided I needed to challenge my but to 60 minutes on the exercise bike. I completed level 6 on random with my increasing RPM throughout. I think I’m going to stick with the bike for awhile.

The Pianist

You might have noticed that I’m pretty far behind in films. At least I’m catching up.

The Pianist was quite good and quite sad at the same time. From my reading and my education about the Holocaust growing up I feel it brought those teachings to life which made it feel more real and more personal. At first I thought it was going to end in the Warsaw ghetto uprising and make that the whole movie, but instead it had room to go and brought about one tragedy after another. Yet the spirit of the main character going on kept the film from getting too overwhelming on the down side.

Freaky Friday

So I finally saw the Freaky Friday remake. It was surprisingly good! Jamie Lee Curtis and Ms. Lohan both did a good job acting like one another and I was buying into the body switch thing. Hmmm… Aside from the wedding being the next day I don’t think they mentioned that it was Friday!

Anyway, check it out, quite entertaining.

The Jacket

The trailers make it look like a scary movie or a thriller. It’s none of those things. A few things might startle you, but that is not the intent of the movie. The movie is just presenting an interesting story along the lines of Somewhere in Time although a bit darker.

It was entertaining and I liked it. I give it extra points for keeping a non-contradictory time line.

Million Dollar Baby

Nicole and I saw this the day that the Academy Awards happened. I’m glad that the trailers I saw didn’t show too much since I wasn’t expecting it to go in that direction at all.

I don’t entirely agree with others about the Morgan Freeman role being completely unnecessary. He had to be there as the constant reminder of the past and that couldn’t have happened with something like a picture on a desk.

Definitely an entertaining and good film and an extra bonus of a buff Hilary Swank (as opposed to Hilary Swank in the buff).

I talked to a trainer today

I told him about the slow reps and he suggested that I throw in super-slow reps (about 10 seconds) to keep the body on its toes. Then he got excited and decided it’s time for him to start with them again.

The Turk

I just started reading The Turk by Tom Standage about the 18th century chess playing machine. While I’m not far into it yet, the review of automata at the time is fascinating.

I had no idea such interesting devices were created, like a flute playing statue that really did the playing!

Exercise bike

I almost completed the hour on the exercise bike with my little routing but just couldn’t keep it up at the end. Level 6 is going down next time.

No more sugar

After Sunday I’m not goign to have ny refined sugar until my birthday. And then not until May 19th (Star Wars) and then not until bbq (May 21st) and then not until the 4th of July. I don’t know when after that, but that’s pretty good.
